Hal, George
Thanks for your very quick response.
The Sorting and grouping setting was set
correctly for the grouping.
Further to your responses, I added a
further line for the same field & just set the sorting option only.
My headache has suddenly cleared.
Thanks again guys

Access Report - Sorting Error
Norman,
Hopefully not too late. Reports sort
independently of queries. There is
an icon that looks like a large left parentheses,
then two smaller left
parentheses stacked on top of each other and then
two = signs. This is the
sorting and grouping icon. Also next to the
toolbox icon. Click this icon
and select the field you wish to sort by and you
should get the results you
want.
Good Luck
Hal
PS Hopefully the above makes sense, two people
separated by a common
language after all...

AC2002 using default 2000 format
I have a report based on a query that sorts
correctly on lastname and
is grouped on the first character of the lastname.
The query, a test form all sort correctly.
But the report although
grouped correctly does not sort correctly.
Infact I cannot fathom out
the sort sequence at all.
Now getting desparate as I need this report
tonight & have 1124 records
to be verified by the organisation members for
accuracy.
Any help & advice would be most welcome.
