Sorry for writing in the thread after moderator's warning. Well, girls are of all types right from having good and mature common sense as described by Subramani to touch-me-not type, and I have come across them all. At times I have also observed that more than their undue conservatism, It is non-occurrence of idea of holding hand to lead which is so apparent to us which contributes to their seemingly queer behavior. Proper and mature communication is the key in such situations. Sometimes conservatism is also responsible, and at times it is not unwarranted when in freak instances blind persons have used escort's free willingness to lead by hand for their ulterior purposes. I also know of a freak and bizarre instance in a country other than India where a girl continued putting up with the practice of placing his hand on her breast by a blind persons while being lead, as she thought it to be normal way of leading the blind. However, these are rarities and must be condemned to the utmost and corrected promptly.
However, what I am at a loss to follow is the insistence placed upon holding the arm instead of hand in classical mobility training as stated by some members here. In my opinion and experience, hand serves the purpose better and is less obtrusive. If it is the question of keeping the hands free while leading, I am afraid it may not be an absolute necessity always and besides as far as I can think, an arm may not serve to guide a blind person properly. One may hold wrist or near portion of arm instead. By the way, I have not attended any mobility classes ever, so sorry for any deviations in thought from classical standard practices.
