You need to find a way to print the file to an image format that FineReader can recognize. Press Ctrl+P in MS Word and check the checkbox which says "Print to file". This should ask you for a filename and format. I haven't used this feature of printing to a file in MS Word and so cannot give you exact details of how the system works there. Once you have an image of the doc file, you can then open it in FineReader and recognize.
