You can buy most of the standard flat bed scanners available in the market
and then use some optical character  recognition or OCR software to convert
your scanned images to text that Jaws or any other screen readers can read.
Most of the HP scanners available in the market like HP or BenQ can be used.
OCR software include FineReader or Kurzweil 1000 which is a scanning and
reading application specially designed for the blind.

hello friends,
I would like to know if there are any scanner devices availabl with the help
of which we can scan our books on p.c and read them. This will help me alot
cause every time it is not possible for me to get books converted on audio
cd.I had heard about this device earlier but I dont  know much about it.
