I talked to someone who knows the DUE system and found that colleges never
reach the candidates through consultancies. Why so in the case of the
Physically challenged?
And then If someone wants to be helpful to the PH, why not reveal the name
of the college needing the candidates? Why not advertise the vacancy in the
newspapers which is the normal procedure of the University? And when someone
raises such valid questions, why do people have to take offense?
One should not mind if someone takes offense, but one should always mind
when someone makes capital out of the unemployment of the PH.
When I say "capital" I mean any kind of benefit out of a dismal situation.

We do miss the bigger picture sometimes. Quite possible. But that does not
mean one cannot raise something one feels relevant. Nor do I intend to do
any foul play or to level any accusation. There was nothing unhealthy about
the way I raised issues. One could always disagree, but I see no reasons to
be appalled and to decide to withdraw.

Anyway, to clarify some of the points:

a) It is not the number of times the notice has been posted, but the similar
nature of the notice everytime is what concerned me. Had they be a bit
transparent, as I said in my previous mail, there was no reason for me to
blow the whistle. So the nature, and not the number, was my concern.

b) Of course, the process is problematic. One may have a policy not to
distinguish between private/government jobs, but in a public forum like
this, the distinction must be made by all means, I think, and it is of no
surprise that anyone would, in one way or the other, raise the issue.

c) The logic of reaching out to as many candidates as possible would be more
effective, in my mind, if things are presented in more open and clear
manner.

d) True, nowhere in that notice it was mentioned that one cannot apply in
vacancies of the similar nature. But, even in this particular vacancy, one
must have a choice, whether to make his/her way through the consultancy or
to deal directly with the institution. owing to The recent developments that
have taken place regarding Delhi University and the challenged people, the
later has become more relevant, I guess. The non-transparent nature of the
notice does not allow this choice.

On the whole, my concern is simple. If the idea is to do the most and the
best for the chalenged people, why not do it in the most open and fairest
manner?

Regards.

Dear Members ...

Pardon me for marking this mail to all ....but I thought there may be
people who would have similar questions , hence, it was important to reach
out to all .
With my limited intelligence levels , I am unable to understand the motive
behind the issues raised by the more enlightened members of this forum
....They say

  a) "This is the third time such a vacancy has been posted .....even
subjects are more or less the same." ...... Is the number of times a
vacancy is posted an issue ?

  b) "shocking to realise the utter lack of transparency in such notices"
... we have a standard process of releasing / advertising vacancies and do
not differentiate between private /public/NGO/self employment or any such
category . If someone has a problem with our processes, too bad ..we can't
help it .

  c) "Nor do i see any logic whatsoever behind the manner in which the
Consultancy, in these cases, is insisting on being a mediator between the
college and the applicants." ....The logic my friend, is very simple... to
reach out to as many eligible candidates as possible, so that they get the
benefit ... no hidden motive ... probably you missed this very obvious
logic because you were busy trying to figure out a more ulterior /
clandestine logic where none existed .

  d) "In a job like this, needless to say, we have a well laid out procedure
in which the institution advertises and the applicants apply and appear for
the interview, rather than sending his/her resumés to any NGO or
consultancy." . Nowhere in the email have I asked candidates not to send
their candidature against similar vacancies advertised in other sources and
route their CVs only to us. The institutes know better than us and I know
for a fact , are advertising as per the requirements etc .... but I see no
harm in case they are trying to increase the # of relevant resumes against
an open position .

I am amazed and appalled at the level of arguments raised ... it is quite
painful to note that we have people within our community who miss the bigger
picture and insist on spending time and energy on irrelevant and petty
issues Everyone has the right to put their point across ... but isnt it
possible to do so in the manner of a healthy discussion rather than
presuming foul play and documenting accusations ...We do not claim to be
doing anything great ... our efforts are at a very small scale .. the idea
is only and only to contribute to the cause of employability of people with
disabilities.

I refuse to be part of any forum which has members with such petty ,
parochial outlook ....and am, hence , withdrawing with immediate effect .

Wishing You All the Very Best
  Regards
  Anubhuti

I am also really concerned. Why not to have
transparency? The job is not
related to any private sector.
