Hai Zujar:

I think in JAWS 5.0 the insert+J option doesn't seem to be working. But,
I opened JAWS configuration by alt+h and did something really funny that
some of the sentences are now read in higher pitch, as if they are in
capital letters. And, BTW, there isn't a 'typing echo' option at all and
I have searched in all the given options in the list. This is proving to
be much difficult than I presumed. First, pl tell me what have I done to
activate the capital option, because I want JAWS to sound normal. It
sounds very funny, as if wincing in pain!!!

Hi,

Yes, you can permanently disable Typing Echo. To do so, follow the steps
listed below.

1. Open JAWS context menu using INSERT+J.
2. Select Utilities submenu and then, Configuration Manager to open the
Configuration Manager window.
3. Press ALT+S to open Set Options menu. Select User Options from the
menu to open the User Options dialog box.
4. For the Typing Echo option, select the Off radio button.
5. Activate the OK button to close the User Options dialog box.
6. Press CTRL+S to save the setting done.
7. Close the Configuration Manager using ALT+F4.

Besides, you can disable Tutor Messages. To do so,

1. Open JAWS context menu using INSERT+J.
2. Select Options submenu and then, Basics... to open Basic Settings
dialog box.
3. For the Tutor Messages option, select the Turn Off Menu and Control
Help radio button.
4. Activate the OK button to save and close the Basic Settings dialog
box.

Hope that releives you of too much hearing.

Regards......
