Greetings from the Disability Rights Initiative [DRI]
We are pleased to inform you that HRLN is organizing a
two day training
on the 'Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities' at
the Ali Yavar Jung
National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, S. V.
Road, Bandra
Reclamation, Mumbai. Tel: 022- 26400215. on 27th and
28th October , 2007
from 9.30 am onwards.
The two day training, which is being supported by Aus
AID, is intended
as a training program for trainers and it is envisaged
that subsequently
participants would be positioned as trainers and would
be able to infuse
a rights based approach in their areas of work and use
the modules
developed to train persons with disabilities in an
effort to empower
them with legal knowledge. Participation is being
drawn from NGO/ DPO
functionaries, rehabilitation professionals, special
educators, LLC
members and registered organizations of the National
Trust from
Maharashtra, Gujrat and Goa states only. Training will
be imparted
through modules developed on the PD Act and the
National Trust Act and
kits will be provided to all participants. Kits would
also be provided
in accessible formats for the visually impaired
participants.
Whilst a detailed program will be sent shortly, we
would request you to
identify a suitable person from within your
organisation to participate
in the training. The training is free of charge and
outstation
participants will be provided accommodation for the
two days of the
training. Arrangements for accommodation have been
made at the Ali Yavar
Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped ,
S. V. Road, Bandra
Reclamation, Mumbai . AC 3T/ bus fare expenses
incurred for travel from
destination to Mumbai and back will be reimbursed.
Reimbursements will
however be made only on production of tickets. Please
carry photocopies
of travel tickets for claiming reimbursements.
Since participation is limited to a fixed number you
are requested to
identify a suitable person and communicate the name of
person nominated
and also travel details indicating arrival time at
Mumbai and also
departure date and time and communicate the same to
our office at Mumbai

26th October
evening or latest by 9 am on27th October, 2007.
