Well, I don't think it is strange. Why blind girls' grooming and accessibility thereof should be strictly a private affair, I fail to understand!
I also fail to understand how and why blind girls follow visual standards of grooming readily and with zeal, as if it is their lived experience! सादर / With thanks & Regards राजेश आसुदानी Rajesh Asudani सहायक महाप्रबन्धक AGM बाजार आसूचना ईकाई MIU भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक Reserve Bank of India नागपुर Nagpur 0712 2806846 President VIBEWA Co-Moderator VIB-India A-pilll = Action coupled with Positivity, Interest, Love, Logic and laughter. -----Original Message----- From: AccessIndia [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Preeti Monga Sent: Tuesday, December 15, 2015 10:20 AM To: 'AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled.' Subject: Re: [AI] Girls and Women with Disabilities: share your ways of grooming and tasks like make-up Dear Amar, This is a very strange mail. I am a little confused on why you wish to have this topic discussed on mail? I doubt we want to talk about such personal things on e mail. If there are any queries, you can always call me and I can give you information as to what is it that you actually need. Do let me know if I can help? Before I put forward my questions, let me also tell you that I just have general awareness of these aspects which relates to a female's grooming, from the very little experience which I have observed from looking at my mom. So anything which is additionally useful to know from a disability aspect, is more than welcome. 1. Make-up: how do you figure out if the right amount of lipstick, eye-liner, amazingly smelling nail polish, and other such things have been applied? How do you deal with situations where it has been over-applied or some coloring aspects need to be taken care? (I know the question is not well framed for lack of my knowledge, but any inputs)? 2. Designs for eyebrows, upper-lips, and whatever that small small cutting hairs from sides is called? Third party reliance is the solution? 3. Making things like ponytails? Are they independently doable? 4. Any other potential challenges (strictly restricted to grooming), and solutions? 5. Any equipment to enhance accessibility on this front? 6. Any limitations? 7. If there are trainers, then any practical tips they can share with me? Experiences and method of doing things may differ, but right techniques and tips if any? 8. Has any NGO ever conducted workshop if so, any recordings? One special request to Delhi people, please shine in here, nobody can be better at it than you! If there are aspects which relate to it but go beyond my scope of training, then also I would care to know just for sake of my own knowledge because I am absolutely unaware about this area. Greatful if people can openly share their views.
