Subject: CAPTCHHA in internet banking-alternative arrangement for blind
Importance: High

Madam

Recently SBI has introduced CAPTCHHA in its net banking.

As a rule, the transactions are OTP based, and so appending CAPTCHHA to log in
seems one more additional layer of security to protect the customers and the
bank from frauds.

Be it as it may, you would surely appreciate that being visual, CAPTCHHA makes
the internet banking totally inaccessible for the blind customers.

So, we call upon you to keep your internet banking which is one of the most
accessible products in the industry, as such, and introduce an alternative
arrangement for the blind customers.
It would also comply with WCAG2 guidelines for accessibility.

OTP is the most suitable alternative, I think, as the mobile number of the
customer is already registered with SBI and OTP is already generated for post
log in transactions.
So, providing OTP after keying in username and password by the blind customer
would take care of accessibility.

IRCTC, indian railway's ticket booking site is already doing authentication by
OTP in case of blind users.

Please do take urgent and immediate steps in this directions as by keeping
blind customers out of its internet banking, SBI is violating not only their
fundamental rights but is also militating against financial inclusion.

Hope to see results soon.
