thanks everyone for the feedback. ajay, my, my new beginnings are always slow and very careful. i've been told about being to apply the classic shell or something as well. however, there are many things some friends are still unhappy about in win 10, and that is making my decision difficult. what if i get a laptop without the OS installed and choose a win 7? will i still have issues with stability or drivers etc? i've absolutely no clue. what if i use it this way with win 7 and move to win 10 at a later date? do advise. Pranav, all the employers seem to have a fancy for the T series in Lenovo. these are definitely sturdier and good but also cost an arm and a leg. you are the second person to tell me about the speaker quality of this brand. and, while you work in an open plan office, my partial hearing issue can cause trouble since i avoid using any kind of headsets. they do have laptops at the range i am looking for, but the reviews aren't very encouraging and the speaker volume is something to consider. the search is still on. guess i'll get all my ducks in a row and then get to it.
