Our friends may be aware about Swavlamban health insurance scheme for persons certified to be disabled under Persons with disabilities act. Under this scheme , the actual premium is Rs 3100 per annum and 90% of premium is paid by Government of India. The annual premium payable by Persons with disability (PwD) is Rs 357 . It offers a family floater policy for Rs 2 lakhs and can cover the PwD, spouse and upto 4 children. More informations about the scheme are available at the link www.newindia.co.in/contents/swavlamban.html As per the information provided by the company, the enrolment for this policy can be done only through camps and not through office of New India Assurance company Limited (Fully owned by Government of India). Efforts are therefore made to arrange periodic camps at different locations and by different agencies. First camp of its kind in Karnataka at Information Center for persons with Disabilities , NIMHANS Bangalore (Coordinated by Seva in Action, funded by Directorate for empowerment of differently abled and senior citizens government of Karnataka) for Officials from New India Assurance Company Limited have consented to come to Information centre for Persons with disabilities (NIMHANS) on 16th July 2016 at 11 AM for enrolling PwD interested in availing the scheme.
