the techonological use has to be on two fronts:
1. interior of the transporting bus/ train; and
on the stoppages.

i believe that technology should be designed that it can meet the
requirement of beginners also.

 problem areas include:
identifying the stoppage and the bus number and the route it will take
(if not known) and whether the place of choice be covered by its
route; locating the entrance door (basic but important as can be risky
if untimely)
getting down at the right stoppage  can be taken from dmrc/ shatabadi
announcement system  but has to be functional and little before the
stoppage itself.
