the techonological use has to be on two fronts: 1. interior of the transporting bus/ train; and on the stoppages.
i believe that technology should be designed that it can meet the requirement of beginners also. problem areas include: identifying the stoppage and the bus number and the route it will take (if not known) and whether the place of choice be covered by its route; locating the entrance door (basic but important as can be risky if untimely) getting down at the right stoppage can be taken from dmrc/ shatabadi announcement system but has to be functional and little before the stoppage itself. thanks and best wishes On 1/12/17, bhawani shankar verma <[email protected]> wrote: > my suggestion is that there is no need use of audio, apps, remote sensor > etc, it is only useful for accessindia members who are well used of > technology. later they will failled due to non-maintenance and will only > give profit to the vendors of such machines. the only thing I suggest that a > > conducter of the bus should shout the name of stoppage, the root and number > > of bus, all the operating staff must be trained to attend the disabled > passengers. we must come with a practicle solution not ideal. how many of > blind passenger use the braille and audio signage in metro trains and rail > coaches? 10-15 years back, a disabled coach was introduced in trains. 40% of > > the railway plateforms are shorter in length and in most of the trains the > disabled coach don't in the plateform. > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Rajashekhar, Shekhar > Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2017 9:36 AM > To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning > the disabled. > Subject: Re: [AI] Request:suggestions to make public transportation more > accessible > > Hi, > > Thinking it would be helpful if you can come up with an APP wich announce > the buss numbers when a person with vision impairment is waiting for the > buss. > > -----Original Message----- > From: AccessIndia [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf > > Of Rejin Jose k. > Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2017 12:21 AM > To: accessindia > Subject: [AI] Request:suggestions to make public transportation more > accessible > > hello all, > this is Rejin from cochin university of science& technology. here a group > of students are trying to solve the problems faced by physically challenged > > travellers in our country. > we are planning to start a project regarding this topic. it is a computer > science based project. so I request your suggestions to make use of the > > current technologies like (smart phones, centralised location systems, > digital wallets etc) to make our public transportation facilities much more > > accessible for the physically challenged travellers. > this can include trains, metro's and bus. we shall try to come up with a > universal solution for revamping the public transportation facilities in > our country. > we can also share if any technology is currently implemented in other > countries. > suggestions can be inclusive for all kind of disabilities. > either come up with a suggestion or please mention the problems we use to > face while travelling by train, metro or bus. > we can also mention the problems in current facilities or technologies in > our country that should be modified. > > kindly spent a little time for this..! > > Thanks and regards > > > -- > With Warm Regards, > Rejin Jose > email:[email protected] > cell:8281293699 > > Have a Great Day...... > > > Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of > mobile phones / Tabs on: > http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in > > > Search for old postings at: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > > To unsubscribe send a message to > [email protected] > with the subject unsubscribe. > > To change your subscription to digest mode or make any other changes, please > > visit the list home page at > http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/accessindia_accessindia.org.in > > > Disclaimer: > 1.
