Hello friends!
Here is some quality information for all of you. The tcs soft skills seminar
which was conducted on 17th November 2007.
Heres the summary not as good as the seminar but quite useful.

Here's the right way to prepare your Resume according to Doctor. Ayaz Aladdin.
Many people begin with an objective . Please avoid writing anything of this
kind. Remember a resume is supposed to contain only tangible and factual data.
1. Personal Information:

The first section will consist of all your personal information.
Such as your name, address, age or birth date, contact details [phone number
and e-mail ID if any].

2. Educational Qualification:

The second section will consist of your educational qualification.
Here you will write the name of the course completed first such as S.S.C,
H.S.C, T.Y. etc.
You can also specify your additional qualifications in this section.

Next to the name of the course you will need to specify the name of the school,
college or institute from where you have completed the course.
Then you will need to specify the percentage, grade or class that you have
obtained.
Please remember begin from your ssc 10th marks.
3. Professional Qualification:

In this section you will need to provide information regarding your work
experience.
You can start with your current or [if not currently working ] your last job
first.
Here you will need to specify the company or organization name followed by the
tenure of your working and also tell a little about your exact job profile.

Even if you have no work experience, you should still make this section and
write something like "Starting my career now".

4. Personal Interests:

Here you can give a list of things you are interested in or are your hobbies.
For e.g. reading, listening to music, clay modeling, writing short stories and
poems, etc.

While preparing your resume you should make sure that it should not exceed more
than 2 pages.
You can use 14 point size for the headings and 12 point size for the remaining
of the CV.

How to prepare yourself before an interview?

Before you go for an interview, the first thing you need to do, is to have full
knowledge about the company or organization.
Thus it is necessary for you to seek any information that you can get about the
company profile.
For e.g. if they are dealers, you will need to find out what are the products
that they deal in, what is their annual turn over, etc.
The second thing you need to prepare yourself in would be the topics for which
you are applying.
For e.g., if you are applying for the post of an accountant, you will have to
brush up well on your accounts etc.

Grooming:

It is absolutely necessary for you to properly groom yourself before any
interview.

For boys they should have a clean shave, a good hair cut, wear a good ironed
shirt and pant, keep the shirt tucked in, polished shoes, etc.
They can carry a nice folder in which they can keep their certificates etc.

For girls, they should wear good decent looking outfits.
If wearing Indian dress, they should make sure that their dupatta is properly
pinned, their hair should be properly combed and pinned, wearing a little
make up is always good but they should not over do it, and they should avoid
loading themselves with accessories as well as avoid anything which will make
a lot of noise.
They can also carry a decent looking bag in which they can keep their
certificates etc.

Beginning of the Interview:

It is absolutely necessary for the candidate to reach at least half an hour
before the interview.
This is because, it shows the interviewer how serious he or she is about
punctuality.
It also helps the candidate to do last minute preparations or may be he or she
could ask the office staff who are interacting , a few questions about the
company while he or she is waiting for the interview to begin. Also one really
needs time for getting accustomed to the environment.

When the candidate is called in for the interview, he or she should firmly walk
towards the room.
They should first knock at the door and ask "May I come in Sir or Mam". When
asked to come in, he or she should enter and stand next to the seat until
asked to have a seat.
They should then greet the interviewer politely addressing the interviewer as
Sir or Madam and not call them by their name. They should not have a hand
shake if not offered.

Body Posture:

It is necessary for the candidates to sit in the proper position. They should
sit with their back straight and their hands resting on the arm rest. They
should not fold their legs or shake them since that is a sign of nervousness.
Now here are some likely questions where the interviewer may manage to puzzle
you.
1 tell me something about yourself
Now the ideal answer would be you start by telling your name then about your
father and mother and their current employment or business. Then say we are
- number of siblings . never phrase it like this etg I have 1 brother . always
use we because it signifies unity.
In short you have to give a brief up about your family.beginning with your
mane , age and may be place where you live.
2 how do you think the company will benefit by hiring you.
Eg if you are applying for a admin assistant post then the benefit you will
tell your employer is thet you have done a documentation course . This means
you have to enlist your technical knowledge here.
3 what are your strengths
I believe in punctuality
I have a passion of learning new things
These are some examples of the answers you can enlist. . always use words like
believe and passionate about.
4 your weakness
Eg I cannot b in the company of bad team players
Or I am too much of a perfectionist
Remember your weakness should not be weakness actually but your strengths
presented in some other way. Never give answers like I have a bad temper.
5 your achievement in life
Any answer you give here should show your sense of fulfillment .
6 one disappointment in life
First and foremost never bring your handicap or challenge as an answer.
This question is asked to see your ability to bounce back in life. After a
particular rough patch.

7 anything you want to tell us
Here you should enlist the risks u have taken over and above your job and also
innovations done by you.

Then he will say the interview is over
But this signifies that the interview is not really over he is testing you. Its
actually now time to ask him questions . one or 2 questions about the
organization.
"is it ok sir if I ask you a question"
As may be about job timings or transport. Avoid sensitive questions like
turnover of the organization.
Then the closing at the end of the interview
Thank you so much for your time . it was a nice feeling talking to you. I look
forward to working with your organisation.
Then say can I have a hand shake and extend your hand . shake it once , give a
slight nod and a broad smile . so smile while entering and while leaving
.
In a hand shake the grip is very important.
Hope this helps!
many thanks!
regards!
Mamta.
