Dear All

We are happy to share with you'll that the The XRCVC is collaborating with
I-STEM, EHRC IIIT-B, Vision Aid and Vision Empower to hold one of its kind
Hackathon in Bangalore over this weekend. Along with the hackathon there
are also panel discussions and spaces to network over various ideas of
accessibility and inclusion specifically in the Tech Industry.

If you could circulate this to as many people in Bangalore you may know.
It would be a great opportunity to explore something new. If you have media
contacts in Bangalore please circulate this to them as well as we would
like the event to be widely covered as one of the key purpose of the event
is also to spread awareness.

*I-Stem Hackathon 2018 Invite *

Can you think of a person with blindness trouble shooting your next
software bug ? What chances do you think exist that the next mobile app
that you are likely to use was created by a persons with vision impairment?
If you are a campus recruiter what odds do you think exist of you meeting a
blind student at your next interview?

For most people the above answers would be answered in a ‘no’ in their
heads, when the fact is the answers to all of the above is a resounding
‘Yes’

To bridge this gap between facts and fictitious myths I-STEM (A group of
young persons with blindness and low vision from India pursuing STEM
education and careers) in collaboration with EHRC, IIIT-Bangalore; Vision
Aid, Vision Empower, and XRCVC is organizing the I-STEM Hackathon 2018 at
IIIT-Bangalore through 20th-21stJanuary 2018.

Want to experience how blind people code? Help us making the tech industry
more inclusive? Or just curious and want to know more?

In addition to the Hackathon, over the two days the event will also host a
panel discussion onDisability and the Tech Industry: Employment and Product
Perspectives and will also provide a platform to connect the hackathon
participants from persons with blindness and low vision with potential
employers.

A total of 12 teams and several industry partners will be joining in for
the event.

Make sure you visit too and we hope to see you there to make the Indian
Tech Industry Inclusive for all.

Please circulate the invite to others in your circle.
