Hi, I agree, For the cinema / movie theotors the approach that you have adopted is likely the best between functionality and costs. and like I said, I did not in no way meant to put you guys down in my last message.
The numbers for the movie sanju are perhaps so discouraging could be because most people have watched the movies already? And most I suspect wouldn't go again, although some obviously might considering the effort along with all the things that go into a project like this. Again though, the thing to consider is that the number of blind people is farely low as compared to the ones that can see,and if you begin to count how many of them know how to use technology or even keep up with announcement channels like Access india (I know I did not until a few weeks or months ago). but again I am sure you are already aware of all these things, so what I guess I am trying to say is don't feel bad about it. And really, the audio description in the US AU UK etc is only made either because of existing rules regulations and the production houses doing it as a CSR activity along with the laws. (this is something that our Indian studios might consider). Some are farely good at it, like netflix, the bbc etc, some not so much. Ajay, I would have to experience a ADV in hindi to comment on that, but yes, that is likely to be the case because of 1, hindi itself being a verbose language, and 2. probably inexperience or trying to describe too much. That said, some movies don't make for a very good audio description, no matter what language it is or the skill of the writer that writes and the person that speaks it. I.E fast paced action movies. in those you either miss the sounds because of the audio description (never a good thing) or there is just too much happening for a human to keep up with. @Aruni, you obviously don't know what you or we are talking about here, or you have yourself confused between Audio description and CC's. If you are not indeed confused, or mistaken. then I find what you say to be very surprising, but eh, different strokes for different fokes. unless of course you are saying what you are is because my last message offended you, like I said it might do to a certain people even though I wrote a sort of a disclaimer that was longer than the actual message lol. Just check out the instructions George posted, (they should be on this thred itself) to activate audio description on netflix, see the difference if any, and then if you so wish you could write back.
