Some friends of my organisation Blind Persons' Association in Kolkata and I
myself met Sri Gopalkrishna Gandhi the day before yesterday. We went to
invite him to our library inauguration on the 4th of January. He is really
so kind and affectionate. Though he will not be able to come on the desired
programme, he promised to visit our library and braille press complex very
soon. I admit, celebrities use these occasions for their image. But Sri
Gandhi is not such a person perhaps. He requested us not to offer him any
floral wreaths or to call any media on his visit. He will just stay for an
hour or so in our campus and meet our members. We shall also do so, we told
him.

The role he has played in West Bengal in protesting against the state
government's atrocities at Nandigram may be carefully noted. This is not
exactly a place for discussing his political role.

Best regards,

Amiyo.
