Hi, This is a common behaviour observed in WhatsApp while selecting groups with large number of participants. A workaround - If you are sure of a group name then simply double tap on it without waiting for Talkback to speak. You can confirm your selection at the bottom of the screen to the left of the Send button. Bottom of the screen if keypad is closed, else above the keypad.
I believe this is an issue either with Talkback or RAM consumption on the device. btw, have you noticed that Talkback isn't speaking Emoji icons these days. I'm fond of using Emoji icons however, managing with GIF on G-Board. I understand that this is not an issue with the keypad as Talkback doesn't speak Emoji icons in received messages/content too.
