Hi All,

Some of you will recall that I had discussed a few days ago the idea of
starting a well-organized campaign to constructively engage with service
providers to address accessibility barriers on their platforms. To that
end, I am sharing below a template that Mission Accessibility has prepared.
Mission Accessibility is the name of the group that Amar, Turab and I are
spearheading. The template below should be sent to any service provider
whose platform has accessibility barriers. Please be sure to fill in the
placeholders in this template.

Further, the attached document contains a proposed timetable for such
engagement. We have complete confidence that following this timetable will
help us attain a satisfactory solution. The template is below:

"Dear _,

I am ___, a blind ___ working as a ____. I am deeply passionate about
channeling my lived experience as a person with a disability to push for
constructive change to help the disabled lead more dignified lives.

I and several other individuals with visual impairment use screen-reader
software for assistance in navigating apps/websites on a daily basis. This
technology enables us to obtain audible descriptions of what is on the
screen and also helps in accessing all facets of an app or website. In
accessing your platform, I face several difficulties in using relevant
features because the platform is not screen reader friendly.

I would be happy to provide you specific inputs on what you can precisely
do to make your platform more disability inclusive. I would request you to
evaluate this request in light of three considerations.

First, several studies indicate that India has the largest population of
blind people in the world, comprising around 20% of the world’s blind
population. For far too long, this community has been left behind. Doing
right by the disabled is a moral imperative.

Second, making your platform usable by the disabled will enable you to
access an untapped user base, thus expanding your footprint. It will not
only give you a competitive edge but also position you as a real
practitioner of equity for customer diversity and a disability inclusive
business leader.

Finally, given that accessibility of platforms for the disabled is now a
regulatory requirement, taking these measures will help you discharge that
regulatory obligation as well.

I hope to receive a response to this letter soon, following which we can
work together to arrive at a constructive resolution to this problem.

Looking forward to hearing from you and pursuing a meaningful collaboration!

Warm Regards,

__"
