Dear Team Radio Aksh, At the outset, let us congratulate you on the launch of your Internet radio. We whole-heartedly appreciate your efforts and the noble intentions behind them. Our joy knew no bounds when we read about your venture in the print media. There however, was something that did not make any sense to our ignorant minds. I say ‘Ignorant’ because, we could not accept something which some people, and the majority of media not only accepted, but also was effusive in its praise. It may sound very silly to highly intellectual minds like you, but please help, as we are at our wit’s end. This is the thought that has completely flummoxed our minds. Our radio, that is Radio Udaan, which has been a constant presence in the Disability community since 2014, Radio Udaan, which through its unparalleled success found its name in India book of Records, Radio Udaan, which is heard in over 130 countries, Radio Udaan, which has empowered over Thousands disabled people over the past eight years, is not the first internet radio for the blind, but Radio Aksh is? We are hurt beyond words as we recall that many members of Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Avam Anusandhan Mandal (Saksham) … have been on our shows more than once, and yet have the guts and gumption to claim Aksh to be the first Internet radio for the blind. Some of the blame should be taken by the media as well, as some of them have covered our events in the past, and yet, without even realising what they are printing, they have published the story of Radio Aksh. We wonder whether journalism has given up on one of its foremost principles called ‘Research’. The claim of being the first, which is doing rounds in the media we believe, is either a blatant lie, or simply a stunt to attract funds. Again, you are in the best position to illuminate our ignorant minds about which one of the two it is. Awaiting your clarification and response.
