Dear Prashant and Gambir
I am so very happy for long we were pitching every Bank should have an
accessibility cell, Which should drive accessibility initiatives. The
value of it is so very visible with each of the multi prong effort. More
commendable is adopting the BIS standards of which Department of PWD is
yet to notify.
It is always that, one is in an advantageous position to be ahead of the
curve.
Congrats team and the management who have correctly understood, acted
appropriately and have chosen the right persons for it. All the very
best and I am sure you will fetch great laurels to your Bank.

Dear Friends,
Pleased to share a new initiative in the area of digital accessibility
enhancement by one of the largest public sector banks in India, Union Bank
of India.
Myself and Rahul Gambhir are now team members of Union Bank’s dedicated
project named as Union Access. We are fortunate that we have been resourced
by the bank. We share a few of the steps initiated by the bank at the
initial stage of the project.
1. A committee of top executives on accessibility enhancement.
2. Published accessibility statement on bank’s corporate website
3. A full day quiz on inclusion and accessibility for 75,000 employees
on the Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2022 was organised to spread mass
awareness.
4. e-learning modules added in the bank's online learning system on
disability inclusion and accessibility.
5. Outlook 365 webmail with JAWS manual is compiled and made available
on bank’ intranet.
Union Bank of India, the first Indian organization which aims to follow the
BIS Indian standard on accessibility of ICT products and services.
We are working towards achieving incremental progress. We are counting on
affirmative support and guidance from our mentors, friends and members of
this list.
Please provide your feedback / suggestions to the bank's project Union
