The complaint should be raised with Examining authority for that particular
examination, organizing body, disability commission and any other relevant
agencies.

The instructions are clear but sometimes are not followed due to lack of
awareness.

Subject: Re: [AI] We should demand for the accessible exam

Hi all,

Adding my own experience here.

I wrote the tspsc group 1 last sunday. Following is my experience:

1. The guidelines on their website as well as on the hall ticket, only
mentioned that scribe will be allowed and 20 minutes extra will be given for
every one hour. ( That makes 50 minutes for 2 and half hours paper. )

2. The center was almost 40 km away from my residence.

3. We had requested a friend of mine to write the exam and she happily
accompanied me to the center. But after reaching the center, we were informed
that they had already arranged the scribe. We obliged without any argument. We
reassured whether the scribe would be able to read English very well. It was an
English medium school so it didn't seem a problem.

4. Assistance was given for biometric and other formalities.

5. The problem started when we began writing the exam. The scribe was an inter
student and was slow in reading questions. The paper was too lengthy with
lengthy instructions and 5 multiple choices for each questions. As the scribe
had no practice, she simply kept reading every question rather than cutting off
to the basics. I tried to answer as quick as possible and kept the mathematical
questions aside to be answered later. I could answer total 100 questions out
of 150.

6. As soon as the time got over, the invigilator rushed to take away the answer
sheet. I informed her about extra time. She waited for twenty more minutes and
came and snatched the paper I tried to reason with her. But she said only 20
minutes will be given extra. She took the paper and left.

Loss of 30 minutes for me. I am sure I could have answered a few more in this
time and even more if the scribe was efficient enough in reading the paper.

I am unable to understand why there are no clear guidelines about scribe. Also
where should I complain about the compensatory time?

Thanks for the long read.

Regards

Kriya Jain

Hi pinkesh,
I was not satisfied with the entire process because from filling out
online application till attending written exam was not at all
accessible. I had attended exam with the help of 15 year old child.
She could tried her best to read out question paper but I couldn't
complete even half way because lack of time for each section. Section
would disappear after allotted time is over for the particular
section. I had attended all the section. I could answer only 10 to 12
questionsfromn Maths and reasoning. Scribe had to repeat every
question for me so reading part consumed lot of time.
Can we demand for the accessible exam with extra time but without
compromising with the question paper standard? This way we will get
level playing field. There were 2 more Visually Impaired candidates,
amongst them one has to go back because their scribe declined to help.
There was a one more person who's scribe shutdown their system instead
of helping to write.
