I did not have to make any extra effort to have whatsapp messages read in Hindi. I've in my computer traditional Hindi with Devnagri keyboard and Hindi phonetic, which I believe, has nothing to do with reading of whatsapp messages in Hindi. Following recent update in Window Whatsapp for desktop, I found its interface completely changed and appeared similar to Web Whatsapp. It took me some time to be familiar with its changed interface, However, soon I was able to use it without resorting to any workaround or special trick. The fact that I've been facing no difficulty in reading Whatsapp messages in my computer by character, word and line through the voices Lekha and Neel in vocaliser, Kalpana and Hemant in Window core voices and ESpeak, is serving my purpose quite satisfectorily. Maybe the issue has something to do with Win11. Unfortunately, my knowledge is too limited to add more to it. Hopefully, some technical experts would be able to enlighten us more about it. I tried the same in NVDA also. Although lekha and neel voices installed and Hindi language components are installed on my PC, however, whatsApp Hindi messages typed in Hindi fonts are not readable through NVDA either. Hindi content on other files or web page are easily readable both by jaws and NVDA. My reply was based on my experience of using Whatsapp with NVDA. Actually for no specific reason, I stopped using JAWS almost a year ago, even though it is installed in my computer. These days I've been using NVDA24.4 with Window10 and feeling quite comfortable with it to read or type Hindi text including Whatsapp messages. However, the issue of Whatsapp with JAWS has prompted me to use JAWS again to experiment and know more about it.
