The latest episode, “Legal Aid for Everyday Problems – When Should You Seek Help?”, is now available on YouTube. This episode presents, in simple language, information about recognising everyday situations that may call for legal assistance and understanding when persons with disabilities may consider seeking legal help. It covers 10 common situations, including issues relating to disability certificates, workplace discrimination, denial of government schemes and benefits, domestic violence, education, accessibility, financial fraud, landlord disputes, insurance claims, and wrongful arrest or detention. The episode also presents a simple four-question self-check for identifying when a situation may require legal assistance, highlights situations in which urgent action may be necessary, and provides information about accessing legal aid through the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Persons with disabilities are among the categories eligible for free legal services under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
