I think JAWS script for IE7 should solve your problem. CUNY where I teach for example has not yet upgraded to JAWS 9 and I still use JAWS 5 with IE7 without any problem. You may also consider downgrading to IE6. In any case as a long term solution it is a good idea to upgrade to JAWS 9. Of course a costly option since these institutions make dam money out of our basic necessities.
