Hay there,

I agree with the view that telivision creates a much better atmosphere
to watch cricket or any such sport. for example, I can't quite enjoy a
Flintoff or a Bret lee charging at the batsman with the latter giving
a big grunt or kevin piterson hitting a huge six on a radio while it
is possible in a TV to listen to the full effects. I also like to
listen to the ball hitting the stumpss when a jennuinly quick bowler
does that.

As I am someone who listens to a fair bit of sports, I would say that
it is virtually imposible to give the complete picture of the play in
football, for example. The play is so quick that they do not even have
time to give as much commentry as they give.

Htennis is somewhat more accessible as the chair umpire anounces the
score, at least. again, it is difficult to give the complete audio
discribtion even in this game...

Having said that, I understand the problem of the lack of
accessibility. I would suggest the commentaters tell who is bowling to
whom and what is the score at the end of the over, for example. The
problem with repeatedly telling the score or being more discribtive
could bore the sighties and that is something the telivision guys
wouldn't wan't as the sighties are the ones who watch the telecast.

Having said all this, I would like to say that it is virtually
impossible to give a complete picture of any sport. So, it is up to us
to enjoy as much of the atmosphere as possible.

Regards
Ravi Paul
