It's no way difficult to arrange someone to read students' notebook for you to check them. Teaching & checking are single part of a teaching job & one may be advised to hire a reader for that. As we are nearly always in need of a reader/writer during our academics, it shouldn't be a problem to get some one paid for that while working. I suppose the principal is justified to have such expectations from you & you should try to stand true to it.
