No George, I don't know if blaming the All India Radio is right, because it has been a Public Service Broadcaster. While that means giving quality programme for free to the public in countries like the UK, where the BBC is doing a phenomenal job, PSB is nothing more than a consolation for the majority of poor and economically backward and needy who don't deserve anything of quality. Prasar Bharti may be funded by the government, but I don't think they can afford to pay Rs 1500 Crore to grab five year contract to broadcast cricket matches. The funny thing about our commercialised and globalised world is that while we can log on to the internet and listen to England V South Africa match live for free (which I did a few months ago) we can't listen to matches involving our own country taking place in our own backyard.
