recently while looking around net, i've came across this very wonderful, accessible, and free software called fring.
with fring, you can stay online from your phone to skype, msn, google talk, yahoo, ICQ, and much more. note: if you have unlimited gprs data plan on your phone, and you are not a new user of talks and is aware of your phone settings, please read this post thread in its entirety else, feel free to skip :) though i'm not sure about its accessibility with all the phones, but since it is a .sys application( symbian oriented software) and not a jawa based software, hopefully it will work on most of the talks versions on most of the models. please note that since using fring means to keep your phone connected to internet 24/7, i'd recommend this program to all the gprs subscribers having unlimited data plan on their mobiles ( like me) i'm just describing the steps i've taken to successfully go mobile with fring. at first, i went to www.fring.com then, found the download link and clicked on it. next, at download page, i chose my download method to download via pc. clicking on this link, another page opened, asking to select my brand name and phone model. this was in a combo box structure, so i hit enter to get into forms mode of jaws, selected nokia as my brand, and n72 as my model. then i clicked on submit. at next page, i chose download link, and the file started to download. the file size is different for different models, in my case, it was around 400 KB's after the file got downloaded, i installed it to my nokia's phone memory ( just hit enter on saved file, and nokia pc Suite asks if you want to install that aplication on to the phone? click yes, a promt appears that says, please finish the installation on your phone interface) agree on all certificate security warnings and install the application in your phone memory. right after the installation is completed, fring starts to load. it then asks for your access point to connect to internet. select your access point in my case ( airtel mobile office) then the fring screen appears which asks if you are an existing user or a new user. select new user, and another screen appears where, enter your username, then arrow down to enter your nick name. arrow down and enter your password. then hit okay. fring will try and sign in. and create your new account. after which, fring shows couple of services such as skype, msn, google talk, etc. just select the service you want to use from your phone, and enter its username and password. you can also later on subscribe or unsubscribe to these services from going to options>settings>services. note: 1 change you mite want to make is, hide your phone contacts from appearing inside fring application. to do this, go to options>settings and select on hide phone contacts. after everything is ready you will see 2 tab sheets at fring's main screen, the first tab sheet contains all your internet contacts, and the second tab sheet contains call history. periodically at the second tab sheet, please go to options and select on clear list so that your history doesn't gets over loaded. depending on your gprs signals, your conversations may have varied quality. also, please note that chat is not at all accessible and only voice calls are possible at least with talks 3.0.0.5 this application loads every time your phone starts, but this can also be turned off from options>settings at first tab sheet, if you hit key 2 ( hide), the application gets minimized and you have to hold long the menu key, select fring to get back into the application. over all, you have to play and learn with this program, but if we leave text chats apart, in terms of accessibility and easy interface, i'd say you can give this application a try. with regards, ruchir. -- As long as forever, I will stay by your side, I'll be your companion, Your friend and your guide!!! www.ruchir89.wordpress.com To unsubscribe send a message to [email protected] with the subject unsubscribe.
