Hi

Even if we get a fraction of what is promised, I would still welcome it whole heartedly. This is the first step breaking the barrier and the next step is to consolidate it.

We should now ensure all bi elections are made fully accessible and later the state elections following due.

Another thing we should closely follow up is to find remedies to any operational short commings where ever accessible EVM's are available. This we shall learn only of course we go ahead and caste our vote.

Harish.

Dear George.

As per the guidelines of election commission all urban and semi urban centres will have woden ramps. so also there will be a separte queue for disabled voters and the electronic voting machine will have Braille stickers affixed next to the ballot button. A list of candidates also will be provided in Braille in the sequence of the E.V.N.

The national association for the blind has been entrusted the responsibility to print Braille stickers and the list of candidates for state of Maharashtra and other states. All India confederation of the blind is going to print Braille material for northern states. Nab has launched an awareness campaign amongst the blind for motivating them to exercise the right of franchise independently. We are duty bound to spread the word amongst our friends and contacts aboute these positive measures adopted by the election commission of India.

Amities.

Suhas Karnik.

Subject: [AI] Voting

Hi,

It is all very well that the Election Commission is talking about accessible voting facilities for disabled persons. The question that comes to my mind for which I have no answer is that there are thousands of polling booths and
are all of them going to be accessible? How will the EC know as to where
the disabled voters are and which polling booths would be used.

Regards,

George
