I too had no difficulty. The dummy ballot paper was in braille and the
number of the candidate was in braille. The only thing was that the voting
area was not very well lit so my mom a senior citizen found it difficult to
cast her vote. Also I think we should look at auditing the ramps. The ramps
are so steep I wonder if the wheel chair or a walker can be easily
navigated? Also the wheel chair will not be able to get into the polling
booth because of its size.
The help line number 1290 also worked.
I hope everyone else voted with or without the special arrangements.

Subject: [AI] Accessibility rules regarding Elections were fully
compliedwith
Dear members, I was very happy to see that in the third phase of the
elections held on 30th April 2009, all the rules regarding accessibility
were fully complied with. I belong to Dombivali, which comes under the
Kalyan Constituency. Here the ramps were found right from the entrance
gate. As soon as I entered the booth, everybody was ready to help me. I
was asked whether I knew Braille and when I said yes, I was given the
Ballot paper in Braille to read. There are 20 candidates contesting
elections from this constituency. The EVM had the serial numbers and the
names of all the 20 candidates written in Braille and I could read them
very clearly. This is a collective victory of all of us. It is true that
still a lot is to achieved but a strong beginning has been made. I
congratulate all those who have constantly struggled for this facility.
Thanking you,
Yours,
Professor Shyam M. Sayanekar
