Of course, you have my newspaper report to back your case.

Dear Asif,
I am glad you had a great experience in Calcutta. So basically Mumbai,
Delhi
and Calcutta were good though NOIDA just outside Delhi was not and
Bangalore
was awful. There are mixed reports from other parts of India but mostly
it
is in the negative. We will have to compile the information that we have

received as feedback from everyone and then follow up. No one expected
this
elections to be without glitches but it was a good start all over India.
Thanks for the praise but in this case I dont deserve it.
It was Subash Dattrange, Suhas Karnik and Ketan Kothari who stood behind

their lawyer Mihir Desai in the Bombay High court and promted him to get
the
order on the dummy ballot papers in 2004. However it was not an
organisation
for the visually challenged that filed the first case. The visually
challenged just joined the bandwagon. Then it was the disabled community
of
Jharkhand who got orders from their Court. After which the matters went
to
the Supreme Court. The efforts of Human Rights Law Network and Javed
Abidi's
NCPEDP which is praise worthy. It is Javed's team which is compiling the
feedback and now and has been interacting with the Election Commission.

My mission has always been to encourage people to vote. I used to be
very
interested in politics when I was in school. This year I had a further
reason to encourage people because of the special facilities that we had

been promised. My only role has been to give the clarion call on this
list.
I am just happy that most of you have heard me and exercised your
franchise.
I am a firm believer that everyone has to claim their rights while doing

their duties. We got to help ourselves no one else can.

On the macro level we move towards Census 2011 and on another level we
move
towards standard Examination guidelines. The database is going on well
and
the railways is my target for July-August.Will keep everyone posted.

Dear all,
I indeed exercise my right to vote. It was a pleasant experience voting
this
year. It was nice to see Kanchan Pamnani's initiatives yielding fruits.
Poling machines equipped with braille stickers and friendly staff really
made an awesome independend voting experience. However my poling
station
was on first floor and I guess there were no ramp for wheel chair
access.
Hope concerned authorities would walk the extra miles to make it all
inclusive voting experience in the future.
Asif
