Well most of the accuracy is attained using 'vocal remover'.
I have tried many with the object to get karaokes or just the music of a
song so that I can record my own voice on that track.
But in most of the cases, it removes vocal up to 80 to 90%. I have not seen
any software removing vocal 100% from the song.
There are some websites cllaiming to remove vocal 100% if you pay them some
amount. I didn't try those websites, as it was not that important for me.
I found Goldwave's vocal remover very good.
I heard from someone that how much a vocal from a song can be removed
depends on how many channels the song is being recorded means, it iss the
difference between mono and stario channels.
But I don't possess enough knowledge on that particular ospect.

It is possible to remove the human audio from sound tracks leaving behind
only instrument sounds. I have seen few blind persons doing it through
softwares such as Sound Forge, cool edit etc. this is done by applying
various types of filters and the result may not be 100% accurate and often
varies from song to song. I however cannot suggest the exact steps. it
requires playing around with the tools given in these softwares and
tweeking equalizers and filters.

Hi,
If you are trying to do this in a usual mp3 or wmv or other similar file
formats, it wont be possible as its a single file, wherein the singer's
voice and the different musical instruments are not given in seperate
tracks. For this one should have access to the unmix (what they call in
the studio), and it would have been made in a particular sound editing
software such as Nuendo, Sound forge etc. This ofcourse would be only
with the copyright holder/production house of the song.
But you can get the sing-along (karaoke) CDs of some songs in the music
stores.
warmly,
Pranay.

Try the open source audacity editor. It may have the feature you are
looking
for.
