Shri Shibabrata Sengupta donated his body to NRS Medical College in Kolkata.
He died on 10 February, 2009. He with his two other sightless friends
developed Blind Persons' Association in its present form. As far as I
remember, I did not mention this piece of information when I informed the
list of his death. Shri Sengupta also motivated us to donate our body.

No Kaustubh, there have been several other leaders too but most from the
Communist parties to have taken such a noble initiative. In fact, I have
been instrumental in promoting the organ donation and body donation for
medical research. In August 2009, our group successfully donated the dead
body of one Mr. Rajguru who died of old age. Religious ceremonies etc are
often barriers to it because many Hindus believe that its only after the
funeral pyre that the soul get salvation! We give example of Rishi
Dadhichi
who donated his body for the sake of humanity to make Vajra to kill a
demon!

hi all,
Jyoti basu passed away yesterday .he was 96 years old.
he donated his eyes and body for medical use and research. i think he
is the only big leader who has donated eyes and body.
we should salute him.
