To cut it short - cnet in any country works closely with Reuters, standard & poors and top university professors etc. I know it because they're my colleauges and we never post anything right from one or two sources. Our process is intense to read hundreds of journals first, for example, jstore.com - before coming to unanimous conclusion and our write-ups. I never meant, who's right, who's wrong or blame-game. It's just all about spreading right information for the right people and for the right reason. I still strongly believe, I wish, should I get influence from one or two sources so easily, I'd have stopped going to libraries, consulting top facilitators etc. Moreover, please match Harvard or MLA referencing system with Wiki because I can send you the list of CNET (UK/US) bibliography database, if you want to. Everyone has got different writing style. My colleagues from cnet are the people who met the innovators themselves at MWC 2010 at Barcelona and CES 2010 Los Angles. It is as simple as that, it's wasn't about you mate, it was all about the reliable source you refer to, so we all can put our faith in that piece of information. I don't know, how serious you are about the quality and an organized content. Lastly, I had a positive argument about one topic from wiki because I have all the recorded video podcasts of Steve Jobs and lary page only from cnet, where they clearly explained the developments of gps-thingy in the last two years.

Firstly, it's Karan not Karen. Please do refer the archive of iPhone 3GS where I mentioned about its accessibility options. In short, it comes with built-in voice-over synthesizer exacltly like Mac and a built-in magnifier and a add-on app for shake dialing. I won't recommend its voice over though
entirely based on its touch screen because there are always a loads of
confusion and trouble to access it accurately and speedly for my totally VI
friends unlike the other traditional phones, which gives you tactile
feedback. Having said that, its magnification technology is really state of the art. Infact, once you use it - you get addicted of it somewhat like zoomtext and even better than 'magic' on PC but all this features are really very handy for low vision or partially-blind. About its performance: Among
the 3G S' new features, the unsung heroes have to be the improved
performance and battery life. Well, the improved performance is somewhat sung, since the 'S' in the phone's name stands for 'speed'. Although it's
not as glamorous as cut-and-paste capability -- I never thought I'd be
writing that -- it improves the experience of using a phone that already
feels top of its class for responsiveness. The 3GS also supports voice
control, which suits me, since I like to yell to myself on the Delhi- Metro to frighten off muggers. lol. It's activated by holding down the home button or pressing the button on the included headphones. You can use it to control the iPod functionality, as well for making calls. I was happy to see that it supports UK/US English, so I didn't have to put on a Cupertino accent to make myself understood. It had no trouble recognising who I wanted to phone or what band I wanted to play, and it prompted me pleasantly when there were several phone numbers on offer. Not a day goes by when I don't use in-built GPS system, which is overall alright. I can track all that running with the built-in GPS, and there's a compass to point me where I want to go in Google Maps. It's also great for finding the correct exit from the London Tube or Delhi Metro, but it isn't used in Google Street View in the very cool way I've seen on the HTC Magic. I'm looking forward to what developers will do with the compass app in the future. The landscape keyboard makes its way
into the messaging apps and Web browser in OS 3.0, which is great for
sausage-fingered typists, and could help if this is your first touchscreen keyboard. I've always been big fans of the iPhone's keyboard, whether in portrait or landscape orientation, because of its great predictive text. It's even better than a full netbook keyboard for typing in the passenger seat of my coach everytime I go out of town. OS 3.0 also includes MMS, so you can send images, video, audio and contacts in text messages. It works painlessly, but only images can be put in directly to a text. You can also send links to locations from Google Maps, which is my favourite use of MMS.

For such a great entertainment phone with access to the iTunes store, I used
to be frustrated that I couldn't grab TV shows and movies as easily as
music. Thankfully, Apple's now remedied that, although I'm still annoyed
that we can't stream to podcasts. Damn the data costs.

Cheers

Hi Vamshi,

I remember reading a piece about this auto driver on Rediff sometime ago. This article provided his mobile number along with the number of his auto.
Here it is:
Sandeep Bacche
MH-02-Z-8508

Please pass it on to your contact in Bangalore. He deserves all the
coverage
he can get.

Hi

I had posted this on Access India before and this is not an off topic
post. There is lot to learn for our governments from the auto driver
who does the following
25 per
cent discount on metered fare for the handicapped.
Free rides for blind passengers up to Rs. 50.

And seeing my post on the list in google search, one Mr. Ravindra Rao
has called me from Banglore asking for the contact details of that
auto driver as he wanted to write about him in an international
magazine. Unfortunately, I didn't get that.

So, if anyone of you, especially from Mumbai, knows about him or comes
across him, provide me with his contact details.

hello,
Good man in Mumbai, India.

Exact Narration by an auto-rickshaw passenger,

Suvendu Roy of Titan Industries, who shares his inspirational
encounter with a rickshaw driver in Mumbai:

One Sunday, my wife, kid, and I had to travel to Andheri from Bandra. When I waved at a passing auto rickshaw, little did I expect that this
ride would be any different...
As we set off, my eyes fell on a few magazines (kept in an aircraft
style pouch) behind the driver's back rest.

I looked in front and there was a small TV. The driver had put on the
Doordarshan channel.

My wife and I looked at each other with disbelief and amusement. In
front of me was a small first-aid box with cotton, dettol and some
medicines.
This was enough for me to realize that I was in a special vehicle.
Then I looked round again, and discovered more - there was a radio,
fire extinguisher, wall clock, calendar, and pictures and symbols of
all faiths
- from Islam and Christianity to Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism.
There were also pictures of the heroes of 26/11- Kamte, Salaskar,
Karkare and Unnikrishnan.
I realized that not only my vehicle, but also my driver was special.

I started chatting with him and the initial sense of ridicule and
disbelief gradually diminished.
I gathered that he had been driving an auto rickshaw for the past 8-9
years; he had lost his job when his employer's plastic company was
shut down.
He had two school-going children, and he drove from 8 in the morning
till 10 at night.
No break unless he was unwell. "Sahab, ghar mein baith ke T.V dekh kar
kya faida? Do paisa income karega toh future mein kaam aayega."

We realized that we had come across a man who represents Mumbai ? the
spirit of work, the spirit of travel and the spirit of excelling in
life.
I asked him whether he does anything else as I figured that he did not
have too much spare time.
He said that he goes to an old age home for women in Andheri once a
week or whenever he has some extra income, where he donates tooth
brushes, toothpastes,
soap, hair oil, and other items of daily use.
He pointed out to a painted message below the meter that read: "25 per
cent discount on metered fare for the handicapped.
Free rides for blind passengers up to Rs. 50.

My wife and I were struck with awe. The man was a HERO!

A hero who deserves all our respect!!!

Our journey came to an end;

45 minutes of a lesson in humility, selflessness, and of a
hero-worshipping Mumbai, my temporary home.

We disembarked, and all I could do was
to pay him a tip that would hardly cover a
free ride for a blind man.

I hope, one day, you too have a chance to meet Mr Sandeep Bachhe in
his auto rickshaw: MH-02-Z-8508.

Dear friends,

I am looking to buy a new Laptop for my personal use.
There are two models in my mind: Compaq Presario CQ41 216TU with the
configuration of Core I3 Mobile Processor, 2.13 gh , 4 GB of DDR3 Ram, 320 GB Harddisk and another one is Dell new Inspiron 1464 with Core I3, speed
2.13, 2 GB DDR3 Ram, 250 GB Harddis, Windows 7 basic home premium.
Compaq has no OS installed whereas the Dell is giving me the Windows 7.
The
price for Compaq Presario is Rs. 33000 and Dell is costing me around
31000.
Another good thing I found in the Warranty system of Dell that the Machine
has all complete cover onside warranty where as the Compaq doesn't
include
any such complete cover, onside or replacement provision. Compaq seems
good
with it's configuration of Ram and Hard drive but the Dell is found very
good in the support and warranty.
Apart from user friendly Keypad, I will require good sound in the Machine.

Any suggestion or opinion of the members would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hiya
I also use google maps, which is built-in my iPhone 3GS and it works
very accurately with turn by turn directions. However, As I said in my
earlier post that accuracy and functionality would stll remain a
problem for some time in India, unless companies don't come out with
detailed maps. For example, google's street view. No matter, how
accurate or good your GPS systems are but I strongly do believe there
are still so many details are missing as it should be there on maps.
Also the updation process of maps in any GPS system is quite slow. I'd
always expect more and more details in any GPS system with better
accuracy and updation process so that a larger chunk of VH population
can take full advantage of this and won't hesitate to be dependant on
it to a certain extent. Exactly like JAWS, I wish GPS would work the
same way for VH sooner or later but I really don't think so that any
GPS is that reliable for VH because of the lack of details.
Cheers
