Yes, sure. See, the problem in KVPY is that firstly, they provide no
exemptions from figures, and secondly, if there is no reservation, it
makes matters even worse. After all, competing with the other students
without any accomodations (exemptions/additional time) is difficult.

Hi Kartik
KVPY Exam is for a scholarship/fellowship.
Now they do reserve a certain percentage of such awards for sc/st, but not

for PWD.
Provisions of law may be interpreted to imply that such a reservation
should be made and there is no harm in approaching them or CCPD for that
matter.
I have been pushing for explicit inclusion of such provisions at least in
the new statute, but committee members don't seem to be interested in
giving statutory sanction to such mundane matters!!!!!!!!!! and deem them fit for bylaws/guidelines which we all know can be bent at the sweet will

of burocrats!!!!

Subject: [AI] query about reservation

Hi members,

wishing everybody marry Christmas and a happy 2011!

I had a query about reservation. Is it mandatory for all examinations
conducted by the Government to reserve 3% seats for the physically
challenged? Actually, KVPY is an examination in Science organised by
Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. It has reservation
for SC and ST applicants, but such a provision is not available for
the physically challenged students. Is it legally binding (obligatory)
to implement such reservations, or is it only advisable?

Regards,
-Kartik
