First helpline for visually challenged set up
Staff Reporter
BHUBANESWAR: With visually challenged persons finding little suitable medium to
get informed about their sector, State's first helpline for blind has been
established in the capital city.
The helpline set-up in joint collaboration between New Delhi-based Score
Foundation and city-based Open Learning System would answer to visually
challenged persons on employment opportunities, higher studies or social
security programmes.
Desk Officer of the helpline Manjulata Panda, who is first visually challenged
girl to pursue Ph.D programmes, said the helpline named Eye-way Helpline
Service would operate six days a week in official hours.
One can call at 9439666222 for securing advice for career growth or overcoming
personal problem, Ms. Panda said. She said parents and persons those were
associated with disability sectors could also call at the number.
Terming it as a novel attempt to help visually challenged people, Sanyas Kumar
Behera, former general secretary of Orissa Association for Blind, said there
had been suitable print medium for visually challenged persons to know about
the sector.

With thanks and regards

"I turned to speak to God
              About the world's despair;
But to make bad matters worse
              I found God wasn't there."
