Amarnath
There does not seem to be any such guideline. I am still checking. I could
be wrong ......
However it looks like these companies made up their own rules and blamed
SEBI. This was the same problem with banking. At that time those who
challenged the Bank got the account and the facilities. Now when we cary
the proper guidelines they keep quiet. Over the last 2 years the problems in
Banking have reduced.
If you have the time could you go back to these companies and demand a copy
of the SEBI guidelines?
Thanks
Kanchan

Hi, Kanchan,
you are right. I came to know about from such rules from two different
places. From India Infoline Ltd. and ICICI bank in the process of being
purchase of mutual funds and in the process of making corrections in my
demat account lying at India Infoline LTD. They say that, the rules framed
by SEBI to protect the visually impaired investors from fraudulent
attempts.
Regards.
Yours sincerely,
Amarnath De.

HDFC MF didn't accept my form because it was verified by bank manager,
however SBI and Reliance MF did.

Subject: [AI] Urgent Re: facing problem in purchasing mutual funds
This mail is specifically for Amarnath but if someone else also knows
about
the subject I would be really happy to receive an answer.
Amarnath in the mail below you have said that SEBI Rules do not allow
attestation of Left Thumb Impression by a bank manager and it actually
requires attestation by a notary.
I havent found any such rule so please would you send me the
rule,regulation
or guideline.
This is most urgent because I am in the process of writing the
Memorandum to
SEBI on the subject
I know that Amar Jain has invested in some mutual funds with only the
Bank
manager's attestation. I want to see the exact rule if Amarnath insists
there is one.
Thanks
Kanchan
I have been going through each and every mail on the subject.

fund managers are not allowed to accept attestation of thumb
impressions by the bank managers. They only need the attestation of
thumb impressions by the notary as per sebi's guidelines.

If you have good relations with bank manager you can tell them to
verify the thumb impression.

Hello all,
I want to subscribe some mutual funds. But due to sebi's guideline
blind people must attest their left thumb impressions by notary. But
the notaries are demanding Rs. 20-50 per attestation. So if there is
4 signatures in the form they are demanding Rs. 80 to Rs. 200 to
attest the form. It is not understandable by me that, why the
attestation of gazzeted officers are not valid or why the mutual
funds cannot be purchased through net banking.
Please, share your views not only through this platform but write to
sebi to modify its guidelines and give your views at
[email protected]
Hope, you will take this matter seriously and raise your voice.
Regards.
