please uninstall the talks that maybe installed on your phone & install the latest by redownloading the same. the latest talks, has especially, has been modified to including this functionality. while i also faced this issue with talks 5.1 but ever since i installed 5.2, all such concerns are gone.
I've even started checking all my mails & much more with the latest talks.
