Hi,
I use Talks 5.2 (Licensed) with Nokia C5 and face the same problem.. So what
you have suggested will not help in resolving the issue.

please uninstall the talks that maybe installed on your phone &
install the latest by redownloading the same. the latest talks, has
especially, has been modified to including this functionality. while i
also faced this issue with talks 5.1 but ever since i installed 5.2,
all such concerns are gone.
I've even started checking all my mails & much more with the latest talks.
