Previously I was even able to use screenshot reader of ABBYY, but now even
that doesn't work!
And of course microsoft imaging tool is not going to work due to print
restrictions.
I don't understand why adobe has given this option of disabling screenreader
access?

I have encountered the protection failure message before. You need to
decrypt the PDF file using a utility like Advanced PDF Password Recovery
from Elcomsoft. http://www.elcomsoft.com/apdfpr.html
I cannot comment on the legality of this procedure but Advanced PDF Password
Recovery is a legitimate application.
