For reference we have a doc file, which in between contains Images(with some textual matter in the images.). We desire that we should be able to perform the OCR and have a result of the same as follows, The Original Text in the Doc File shall remain as it is, and wherever the doc file had image, OCR should have extracted the Text and placed it instead of the Image at that particular location and all this should be in a new editable format. If this is right, With my little knowledge I feel the following. 1. I would have first given the command to convert the entire word DOC as a PDF and seen the result of OCR.(I can check as I have the text part in the original doc file for verification if OCR was performed on the Image and added at respective location or not.) 2. As I said earlier that I shall just pick the images one by one from the original doc File (in between two textual paragraphs) perform an OCR, get the result and put it back at the image's respective location, all this done on a copy of the original doc file, and see if I get any result out. I may be wrong in assessing the actual scenario and may be pardoned if at all I am. If it is 2007 or 2010, then you can do the following. This assumes that your document is a *.docx file. 1. Make a copy of the document. 2. Rename the file to have a zip extension. 3. Unzip the archive. 4. Explore the unzipped archive. There are folders that contain all the images in the document. You can try recognising these images using OCR.
