Hi,
Very interesting question.
Ask the nearest sitting person to call the cafeteria staff. I've
applied this trick even in unknown places, and most of the time it
works. Share this issue with the canteen staff as well. Try to occupy
the nearest seat to the counter. During my college days, this “nearest
seat to the counter” farmula worked very well.

Thanks,
