Hi Shabir, You are absolutely wrong by assuming that the functions of various special keys has not been tempered with by the manufacturers, in fact, all notebooks/net books that are coming today under the brand of Dell and HP have modified the functions of the special keys, in other words, they behave the multimedia keys when pressed without any combination, and they give their original functionality when pressed in combination with the FN keys, however, they can easily be reversed by making some changes in the BIOS mode. I've used HP's elitebook earlier and probook currently. And also Dell Inspiron. The function keys behave quite normal. Generally additional functionality like switching on/off wifi, altering screen brightness, etc are assigned to the function keys when pressed with the fn key near the CTRL key. I don't think that the manufacturers tamper with the normal behavior of general purpose keys on the keyboard.
