Hello Please ask them to give in writing that RBI rules are not applicable to them. I would suggest you arrange to record it if you speak to them and also don't forget to collect their name and designation.

Nevertheless, I did not give any additional undertaking to Citi even then. My CEO and Chareman were furious on the matter and matter had been resolved by my CFO at that time. I still have Citi account active and have not faced any problems till date. You may mention the same to them that, the accounts have been opened in the past by Citibank to VIs if that helps.
