Sir,
I have been hearing The announcement since in 2004-05 period. only 4
malayalam channels were in DD Direct Plus & now 2 of them removed. In
Kerala, cable connection is suitable. DTH operators are providing only
selected regional channels. We have to pay for sports & other paid
channels. But in cable connection, we get All regional channels & 4 or 5
sports channels & some other paid channels without any package for Rs 100 to
Rs 200. If we get 200 free channels, How many channels will be useful to
the customer?

Hi

DD Direct Plus which is also a DTH can be one of the option. It has only
free to air channels and the broadcasting Minister had some time back
announced it will carry about 200 free to air channels.

It also carries 22 radio channels.

They are trying and pushing this down our throats in Bangalore too. A fee of
1200 is charged per set up box instalation. A monthly fee of 250 is service
charge per set up box. Since we have a large family with indipendant
accomodation, every room has a TV, a total of 5 in number. And if we want
cable for all the TV's we end up paying 1250 per month just for cable!

The bread winner of the house has decided just 2 connections need be active,
all the other TV's can catch dust and go to cable heaven. Anyway, I am not
that concerned about it, for obvious reasons...

It will be available only in 4 major cities, viz. Delhi, Mumbai,
Chennai and Kolkatta in this first phase starting July 1st onwards.
However other cities are likely to be included later.
