dear mukesh,
as I checked with excel XP, it worked. one thing you have to ensure. after
typing dash, press enter and do not use arrow keys to go to another cell.
otherwise, excel tries to insert a formula. if you type 2 or more dashes,
after pressing enter key, you may get an error message box. ignore it and
hit another enter. I hope the same holds with later versions of excel also.

Subject: [AI] Type dash in excel cell
Hello friends,
I have a column in excel database namely 'email'. Some of the teachers
don't have a email id so I want to type dash instead of leaving the cell
blank. But excel didn't accept the dash sign in cell. Any solution to type
dash sign in cell?
Regards
