Hi There is no need for any special trainers for teaching the blind to swim. I learnt swimming when I was 17 in a swimming club in Calcutta. It was a normal olimpic size pool and my aunt and friends taught me to swim. Any trainer can teach you; just the way he/she teaches anyone else. You only need to convince the trainer that you can feel the water around you and the flor of the pool under your feet. As far as I know, there is no problem. You just may end up bumping into fellow swimmers, just smile and apologize for the small accident in the wather! Just ask your trainer to instruct you with words as well as touch. If there is a will there will be a way to learn and to teach.

I enquired at a neighbourhood pool but they said it would be impossible for them to teach me as they do not have special trainers and their pool does not have special facilities for the blind. Does any one have any information regarding swimming trainers / swimming learning centres for the blind in Bangalore? Best, Anandhi -- It takes only me to make my dreams come true!
