I completely agree with Sultana's observation about ITC Hotels. I have
personally interviewed with them at their hotel in Hyderabad and with an
added reference from their VP HR who has enough information and inputs about
inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Despite being a professional from the hotel industry and many promises made
by the HR Manager, they have not ever responded to any follo up calls from
me. this was over 2 years ago. I understand the industry needs a lot of
visual inputs, but there are still roles like training which can be easily
fulfilled by a person with vision impairment. When asked by the HR Manager,
this was exactly what I told him I could do as could anyone else like
myself. Since I have the necessary industry experience and skills to carry
out this task with the minimal adjustments, it was not very nice to see they
didn't care and I had eventually wasted my time with the company.

These are my personal thoughts based on first hand experience with them.
They must be definitely pushed to be more inclusive in their policies based
on the skill sets and industry experience an individual brings to their
table, rather than just look at the disability as an inability.

Subject: [AI] Employment Data needed on disability

Hai Swati,

I would like to share some information with you based on my personal
experience, regarding exploring opportunities particularly at ITC
Hotels for people with disabilities. They do hire people with physical
disabilities for operational roles. However, there is no scope for
vision impaired persons to work there as they use an application
exclusively designed for ITC on the UNIX platform which does not
support JAWS.

I strongly agree with Asif's statements about the discriminatory
attitude of corporates towards disabled people.

Regards,

Sultana
