Umesha,
I have had congenital cataracts but my cataracts were removed when I was a
few months old. Surgery was advised immediately because whatever chances I
had with the residual eyesight it would have developed till I was about 3
years old. I am shocked that you did not get the medical attention and
advice although you are atleast 15 years my junior.
Anyway please go for the surgery. You are at a great risk of getting Retina
Detachments sooner or later. You will have to deal with it when it happens.
You may check with the doctor that you are at grave risk whether you remove
the cataract or not.
If you are able to see better even for a few years then please take the
chance.
I know that I am sounding very harsh but Umesha I know the path that you
are walking.
Please take care of your health and dont take risks with your retina. Ensure
that your eye pressure is always under control. This is where I messed up.
Write to me off the list in case you want to know anything else.

Subject: [AI] Experience of congenital cataract treatment needed.
dear friends,
I am suffering from congenital cataract in both eyes. doctors are saying
it is curable. but they say that how much functional vision I get is not
certain as the optical area in the brain has not been developed in 30
years due to lack of stimuli. it is almost clear that they can remove the
cataract and sight will be clear. but I doubt whether there is a chance of
loosing present functional vision due to excess amount of light to which
the brain is not accustomed. so, I need the practical experiences of
congenital cataract treated in later age like 30 years or so. learned
members please enlighten.
