It looks like a Video Intercept issue or probably a video driver issue
causing the video intercept to malfunction. Check if JAWS reads text
typed in Notepad correctly, if it does than I believe the video
intercept is alright. You can re-install the video intercept by
exploring the "Video Intercept Manager" option under Utilities menu of
JAWS.

You can use ALT+- to pop the system menu for the current file in Ms
Office applications. Also, there are buttons on the menu bar for
Maximize, Minimize and Close for the current file window within the
application window.
